Itineraries
Day 1
Arrival
You will be met upon arrival and transferred to your hotel. Overnight in Addis.
Day 2
Fly Addis - Bahir Dar
You will be transferred for your flight to Bahir Dar. Be met upon arrival and transferred to your Hotel. Later, you will take a boat trip on Lake Tana to visit the 14th century Monastery of Ura Kidane Mihret which is the most famous of the Zege peninsula monasteries with a very beautiful painted maqdas and priceless collection of crosses as well as crowns. In the afternoon you will drive to the village of Tis Isat to see the Blue Nile Falls (Please be informed that due to the newly constructed electric dam in the vicinity, the water level of the falls could be very minimal). Overnight in Bahir Dar.
Day 3
Fly Bahir Dar - Gondar
After early breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Gondar. Gondar is the town founded in 1636 by the great Emperor Fassiladas. Set in a landscape of the incomparable beauty, it was the royal capital of Ethiopia. Visit the castles and churches built by Emperor Fassiladas and his descendants. Later, proceed to the fascinating Debre Birhan Selassie Church (termed by UNESCO as one of the World's heritages) with its walls and sailings decorated with scenes of Biblical lore and medieval history. Overnight in Gondar.
Day 4
Fly Gondar - Axum
You will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Axum. Once the center of a great empire, and the seat of learning for the ancient Ge'ez language and literature, Axum is the prime historical site in the north of Ethiopia. Take a city tour that include the Stelae park, St. Mary's Church, the sanctuary Chapel which is the repository of the 'Ark of covenant', the coronation yard, Tomb of Kaleb and his son Gebre Meskel, Ezana's Inscriptions, Queen of Sheba's Bath, Queen of Sheba's palace ruins and Axum Museum. Overnight in Axum
Day 5
Fly Axum - Lalibela
You will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Lalibela. Lalibela is the jewel in the crown of Ethiopia, the most famous churches and the scene of so many major religious ceremonies. Also known, as 'Africa Petra', Lalibela and its rock hewn churches are arguably Ethiopian's top most attraction. Visit rock hewn churches. Overnight in Lalibela.
Day 6
Fly Lalibela - Addis
You will be transferred to the airport for your flight back to Addis.
Later you will be transferred to the airport for your departure.
